The brutal slaying of a Venezuelan woman by an ex-lover - Woman hunted down and stabbed to death on the way to work A 28-year-old Venezuelan woman was brutally stabbed to death in Chaguanas on Saturday morning after an attacker allegedly ambushed her while she was walking to work. Dead is Mariannys Jiménez, also known as "Sophia", of Kelly Village, Caroni. According to reports, Jiménez had spent the previous night with a close friend and co-worker before the two set out for work shortly after 9 a.m. As they walked along Montrose Main Road towards their workplace, a man dressed in dark clothing and wearing a cap reportedly approached the women and launched a vicious attack on Jiménez. The suspect allegedly stabbed the woman multiple times in broad daylight, sending terrified onlookers scrambling for safety. Police were told that the victim's friend ran into a nearby business seeking help as the attack unfolded. Moments later, she reportedly saw the suspect fleeing the area before returning to find Jiménez collapsed on the pavement, suffering from multiple stab wounds. A passing motorist rushed the wounded woman to the Chaguanas Health Facility, where medical personnel desperately attempted to save her life. However, despite their efforts, she succumbed to her injuries minutes after arriving. Investigators believe the killing may have stemmed from a domestic dispute, although the motive remains under active investigation. Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect as detectives continue enquiries into the brutal murder.
