SUNAN GIRI Sunan Giri was one of the members of the third Walisongo period, who spread Islam on the island of Java. His nickname was Jaka Samudra, and after growing up he changed his name to Raden Paku. Besides these two names, Sunan Giri also has other names, namely, Prabu-Satmata, Sang Hyang Giri Nata, Sultan Abdul Faqih and Raden Ainul Yaqin. Sunan Giri was born in 1442 AD, from Sheikh Maulana Ishaq and Dewi Sekardadu. Sheikh Maulana Ishaq himself was an Islamic missionary from Malacca, while Dewi Sekardadu was the daughter of Prabu Menak-Sembuyu, ruler of the Blambangan region during the late Majapahit era.
