End of Season Cyclocross Team Relay

A muddy end of season cyclocross team relay at Colchester Northern Sports Park. This week’s video is all about the End of Season Team Cyclocross Relay Race at Colchester Northern Sports Park. A fun but seriously tough club event where each team is made up of three riders from the same cycling club — racing flat out in relay format. I lined up for the Stowmarket team alongside Glenn and Paul. Gridding was completely random, which meant I started from the last row on the grid. With the start and finish on tarmac but most of the course on soft grass, weeks of rain had turned the circuit into a slippery, cut-up mud fest. After making up places on the opening straight, I pushed hard through the first lap to move from the back of the mid-pack to the front of the group before handing over to Glenn. He delivered a strong lap, moving us up to 5th place. Paul held position brilliantly, and we each maintained that spot on our second laps to secure 5th overall. This cyclocross relay was all about teamwork, smart pacing, bike handling and surviving the constantly deteriorating muddy conditions. The soft grass quickly became rutted and slippery, limiting line choice and maximum speed, making every corner and off-camber section a challenge.
