George Berkeley is possibly the strangest empiricist in the entire history of philosophy, and specifically in modern philosophy initiated by Descartes. But on this channel, we listen to everyone! What were George Berkeley's contributions? What is the core of his thinking? Well, based on the empiricism developed by John Locke, he takes it to immaterialism, arguing that the material world does not exist as a substance, apart from a subject that perceives it. The only substance that exists is spiritual, finite (us) and infinite (God). As strange as it may sound, I guarantee you that he is one of those modern philosophers who makes you think... like Hume, who bases his radical skepticism on many of his ideas!
