Despite undergoing life-threatening general anesthesia and MRI at a hospital boasting advanced medical care, she was unable to receive a diagnosis or treatment for FIP. Ultimately, she developed aspiration pneumonia and passed away the day after arriving at our clinic. Let me state upfront that this video is not intended to negate MRI or advanced medical care itself. The problem is that "the examination did not lead to diagnosis or treatment." An MRI that doesn't lead to diagnosis or treatment becomes nothing more than a life-threatening "commemorative photo"—that's today's theme. ■ Three things I want to convey in this video ① MRI is not always necessary for the initial diagnosis of FIP (general anesthesia for a cat in poor condition is itself a risk to its life) ② Claiming to provide "advanced medical care" and having the ability to treat FIP ​​are two different things ③ Even if a veterinarian claims to be an "FIP specialist," it doesn't mean that the veterinarian on the ground is knowledgeable about FIP ■ To pet owners Don't stop at "We did the tests" and "The results are good." ・What can be learned from these tests? How will the treatment plan change based on the results? ・How are the A/G ratio, globulin, and inflammatory markers changing? Make decisions based on a satisfactory explanation and objective data. If you feel that the doctor's words and the cat's condition don't match, don't hesitate to get a second opinion. ■ To veterinarians FIP is not a case of "testing and done" or "prescribing medication and done." If you order an MRI, you must be able to explain how the treatment plan will change based on the results. Track improvement and deterioration with objective data, not just appearance. If you lack confidence, seek consultation or referral early. This is a case I myself was unable to save.
