WOULD YOU BUY A HOUSE IN THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE IN CENTRAL PORTUGAL? PORTUGUESE VILLAGE TOUR

Hi there! I am Joseph. I have been an immigrant / expat living in central Portugal along with my beautiful girlfriend Mariana for six years now. Together Mariana, my father Clinton and myself, would like to show you a bit of the daily goings on around our Portuguese farm / homestead / smallholding and all of the work we are doing whilst renovating, starting building projects, working with our livestock, DIY and trying to grow our little families own food! In this episode we welcome you to join us in early summer time as we go about our daily goings on around our farm and the local surroundings, here in central Portugal. We begin this week as I introduce myself in the beautiful Gardunha mountain village of Alcaide, we take a look around the village square and speak a bit about what the village has on offer in terms of amenities. We walk around the village a little and check out the beautiful parks outside the schools village. There is a beautiful pool with a terrapin, lots of flowers, statues and benches and you can really tell how proud the locals are of their beautiful village. The history is rife here and I touch just a little on some of the vast history, I speak about the Moorish people and how they founded a lot of the villages and towns in Portugal or took them over in many cases when they invaded the Iberian peninsula and what we now know as Portugal / Spain. After that i show you some videos and photos I took at the mushroom festival that is held here annually, called Miscaros, it is always in late November and is really a sight to see! All the locals come together and have an amazing three nights! It warms up somewhat and I decide to take a drink from one of the local cafes, I head to cafe Batista, via my brother in laws house, where I call him and ask him to join me, they just bought their own house in the village here. Lloyd comes to join me and I spot him walking down the street as I pass by the centro da saude, health centre and the multibanco, ATM. We have our ice cold drinks and watch the thunderstorms roll in, they quickly blow away over the mountain and Lloyd heads home. I continue the last little section of my village tour and check out one of the seven churches/chapels in this little village. The church tower that I check out actually still has a fissure in the wall, which can be seen in my video, from the 1974 earthquakes! After the tour we head back to my farm, just in time for lunch, which is lucky as I am feeling somewhat peckish! I stop off at the local butchers on the way home and pick up some ground rump steak, which I turn into my favourite, simple meatball and gravy recipe. It is rather yummy and I hope you will try this recipe out too! After lunch I sit on the veranda, mull over the past week and with my Mitzy on my lap I enjoy the afternoon in the shade.
