After the silence we found in Patagonia, we continue our journey in search of peace, shelter, and connection in one of the most remote places we have ever been. This time, we are alone beside a mountain lake at over 2,000 meters (6,500 feet) above sea level, surrounded by massive mountains and the powerful Zonda wind. We arrive while there is still daylight, exploring this empty and quiet place. As the hours pass, the light slowly fades and the cold takes over. Outside, there is only the sound of the wind passing through the old buildings. Inside, there is the warmth of the fireplace, food being prepared, and the feeling of shelter. No voices. No music. No distractions. Just the sounds of the environment. The wind, footsteps on the rocks, firewood being carried, the crackling fire, and the simple routine of a night in an extreme place. As night falls and the temperature drops rapidly, we find comfort in the little things: the warmth of the fire, a hot meal, and the absolute silence of the mountains.
