Forced Adoptions: Rosemundy Mother & Baby Home Plaque Unveiling, St Agnes, Cornwall
Karen Constantine collects the views of organisers, campaigners and attendees at the unveiling of a commemorative plaque on a former home for unmarried mothers. Rosemundy House in St Agnes, Cornwall, was a mother and baby home before being transformed into an hotel. Attendees at the event included birth mothers and adult adoptees, all victims of forced adoption. Also in attendance were representatives from MAA, the Movement for an Adoption Apology. The group has been lobbying the UK government for a formal apology and for future support for women and their children that were affected by the state-sponsored practise which was at its height between the second world war and the 1980s. This film includes coverage from the BBC and ITV news teams in attendance on Saturday 10th May 2025.
