Joan Miró | Spanish Surrealism
Joan Miró (1893-1983) was a spanish painter. He travelled to Paris in 1919 where he joined the rapidly emerging group of Dadaism, which in its turn led to the development of Surrealism not many years later – the style in which he would become on the the leading figures. As one of the most famous modern surrealist painters, his art is characterized by the monotonal background plane, schematic color-fields, with the deformed “childish” figures and the thin black line disrupting the harmony of the calmer background.
