There are many reasons for this situation, and making a correct diagnosis is the way that leads us to a solution. Garlic can turn yellow for a number of reasons. These include the presence of pests, plant damage caused by diseases; not irrigating correctly, lack of nutrients, the plant cannot absorb nutrients from the soil due to frost, and leaves are damaged by frost, nitrogen deficiency in the soil and not planting correctly. If there is yellowing due to the disease, we may have a fungal problem. To understand this, root a garlic and observe the condition of the root. If there is a situation like in the photos, it is necessary to resort to solutions related to diseases. But if there is nothing wrong with the roots, then we can gradually start to eliminate the causes. If we can rule out the presence of pests, the problem is more likely to be a lack of nutrients. Apart from these, there are two other reasons for yellowing leaves. First, some gardeners put sand in the planting pits to create a soft area for the garlic and cover it with soil after placing cloves on it. Do not make such an application, as the sand begins to be saturated with water, it creates an even tighter environment and squeezes the roots of the garlic, which causes yellowing of the leaves. Not planting at the correct planting depth in the second issue. The garlic is planted twice as deep as the cloves. Planting shallow will cause the teeth to be affected by the cold and the leaves will turn yellow. If we have ruled out all causes and are convinced that there is nutritional yellowing, we can immediately start a nitrogen-based feed. The fastest solution for nitrogen fertilizer is chicken manure sorbet, nettle manure from our classic fertilizers or liquid fertilizers made from mullein and vinegar. I do not recommend chicken manure under normal conditions, but it can be used for such a quick intervention. Before using the chicken manure, which we dilute to 1 in 20, make pits that are not very deep between the garlic. In this way, it prevents the roots from being directly exposed to the sodium salts in the chicken manure. It is a big mistake to put chicken manure into the soil without fermenting it. We will tell you how to ferment it in a separate video. If you can't, you can buy ready-made chicken manure. These are usually in the form of pellets and the nitrogen compounds in them become stable during fermentation. Put a jar of this fertilizer in a bucket of water and wait for it to melt. After it melts, mix the syrup that you filled the same jar halfway with into 10 liters of water and apply. We can carefully pour our syrup into the vertical pits we have dug between the rows.
