The Lost Attractions of Las Vegas

Las Vegas has always been a city built on excess. As the Strip expanded and new resorts competed for attention, casinos began filling their properties with rides, shows and large scale attractions designed to stop visitors in their tracks. Some borrowed directly from theme parks, installing roller coasters, motion simulators and immersive experiences. Others turned their front entrances into stages, using fire, water, music and pyrotechnics to create nightly spectacles that drew crowds from across the boulevard. Many of those attractions became defining features of their resorts, running for years and entertaining millions of visitors. But Las Vegas is constantly evolving, and even the most ambitious ideas don’t always last.
