BMW International Open - Turniertag 3 - Tee Time - der Golf Podcast
In the latest episode of TEE TIME – the golf podcast, the official podcast of the BMW International Open – Jens Zielinski and Bernd Ritthammer take you live from Golfclub München Eichenried. Today is Saturday, the famous Moving Day – and that was clearly evident on the leaderboard. Right at the beginning of the episode, Jens puts the day into perspective and points out that the daily summary is also available as a video podcast on YouTube and Spotify, as well as an audio episode on all podcast platforms and at bmw-golfsport.de. A major highlight of the episode: Martin Borgmeier was on stage at Tee Time in the Tournament Village. The German long-drive star, 2022 World Long Drive Champion, is one of the most renowned speed and long-drive athletes in golf. He gained international recognition, among other things, for his 2022 World Championship title, when he defeated Bryson DeChambeau in the final with a 426-yard drive. Furthermore, his personal best in competition is listed at 484 yards and a peak ball speed of 239.3 mph. Borgmeier perfectly embodies the new generation of golf, a blend of performance, entertainment, YouTube golf, social media, Bryson DeChambeau, Good Good, Bob Does Sports, and long drive – in short, everything that's making golf younger, louder, and more digital. He then discusses BMW Launch Control, the differences between tour golf and long drive, ball speed, Powerball, adrenaline, and why YouTube golf resonates so deeply. Bernd Wiesberger and Michael Hollick are tied for the lead at -13 going into the final day. Right behind them lurks Carlos Ortiz at -12. From a German perspective, Thomas Rosenmüller's performance is particularly strong: he shot a 65 and sits in fourth place at -11 – firmly in contention for the win. Freddy Schott continues his strong run after a 68 at -8, while amateur Finn Kölle heads into the final round at -7, Nicolai von Dellingshausen and Matti Schmid at -6, and Joel Girrbach and Maximilian Steinlechner at -5. The episode also features an interview with Bernd Wiesberger, who, after his impressive third round, discusses his form, his development over the past few months, and his outlook for the final day. At the time of recording, he is at the top of the leaderboard and appears calm and focused. He also explains why the tee time on Sunday is earlier: due to possible thunderstorms in the afternoon and the travel plans of many players heading to Scotland, the final round has been moved forward. And, of course, we also go behind the scenes: Bernd Ritthammer explains how the pros and caddies work with the birdie book, why it contains significantly more information than a standard birdie book, and how distances, pin positions, wind, and strategy ultimately lead to a clear decision on the best shot. Finally, a look at the final day: The players will tee off earlier on Sunday. From a German-speaking perspective, these tee times are particularly interesting: Maximilian Steinlechner tees off at 8:10 a.m. from the 10th tee, Joel Girrbach at 8:10 a.m. from the 1st tee, Matti Schmid at 8:21 a.m. from the 1st tee, Nicolai von Dellingshausen at 8:32 a.m. from the 1st tee, Finn Kölle at 8:43 a.m. from the 1st tee, Freddy Schott at 9:27 a.m. from the 1st tee, Thomas Rosenmüller at 9:49 a.m. from the 1st tee, and Bernd Wiesberger will tee off in the last group at 10:00 a.m. from the 1st tee.
