Bowflex® Selecttech® 552 & 1090 safety issues - my fix (Old vid. Chk out my YT chan for the latest)

My opinions and advice in this video are now somewhat out of date and partly inaccurate. I've learned a ton and incorporated that expertise into my current discs. If you've ever owned a pair of Bowflex Selecttech 552 or 1090 adjustable dumbbells then you may already know they can be unsafe. Eventually the discs that retain the weight plates (i.e. the discs that keep the plates from falling on your face) warp, bend, crack and eventually snap. Weight plates become loose and fall from the dumbbell handles. This is as true today as it was 16+ years ago. And without a fix, someone will eventually get hurt or property will get damaged. In early 2019 I created a permanent fix for all of my SelectTech dumbbells. I got fed up with the crappy OEM discs and with customer service telling me that I should just buy new handles--handles that would have the same crappy discs on them. So I designed my fixes and I had a shop mill my first discs from 6061 aluminum. Then I posted this video about my fix. Turns out many hundreds of people had the very same problem with their dumbbells. They began asking me to make the fix for them too, and Average Joe Innovations was born in July 2020. My current kits are more refined and affordable than ever. They cost a tiny fraction of what I had originally paid to have my very first discs made for my own dumbbells. In addition, since July 2020 I began designing and manufacturing other safety fixes and upgrades.
