road.cc Bamboo Bike Series, Part 5: Painting the Frame

Part 5 of Dave's bamboo build for road.cc, and this is the bit where it starts to look like a proper bike. Dave sands down the hemp bindings to thin them out and tidy up the joints, then gets the frame ready for paint. You'll see the lugs go on in road.cc blue with clear lacquer over the bamboo, so the natural grain still shows through. He's also weighed the bare frame at 2.6kg, which gives you a feel for what one of these comes out at before the build. If you're thinking about painting your own frame, this is a decent look at how the finishing actually goes. Build your own bamboo bike. Kits start at £375: https://bamboobicycleclub.org/collect...
