We stayed at Kaminogoten, which used to be a villa inn of a lord of Kishu. Ryujin Onsen, a secluded hot spring resort in Wakayama, is a quiet hot spring resort healed by the murmuring of a mountain stream and the chirping of birds. The rooms in the main building and the Onari-no-Ma room, both of which are tangible cultural properties, were so historic that it was as if we were back in time, even though we were in the modern age. The open-air bath overlooking a beautiful mountain stream and the indoor bath made of cedar surrounded by the fragrance of wood were wonderful, and the slippery hot spring water like lotion healed me. The food, which is mainly made with ingredients from the mountains, is carefully seasoned and delicious. It was a great place to stay for about 20,000 yen per night with half board while enjoying a luxurious atmosphere.
