It's a Showa-era retro. The Gakunan Railway, which miraculously made a comeback from near closure. In 2014, the night view of Fuji's paper mill was registered as a Japan Night View Heritage Site, and it became an instant hit as a railway company. But just two years ago, it was on the brink of closure. This time, I'll be explaining the Gakunan Railway and introducing its highlights. A Brief Overview of the Gakunan Railway A 9.2-km private railway line running through Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Starting from Yoshiwara Station, the line connects 10 stations: Jatco-mae Station, Yoshiwara-honmachi Station, Honyoshiwara Station, Gakunan-Harada Station, Hina Station, Gakunan-Fujioka Station, Sutsu Station, Kamiya Station, and Gakunan-Eo Station. In 2012, due to the impact of JR Freight's streamlining of its operations, the line lost its stable source of revenue, and was in danger of being abolished. However, after being registered as a Japan Night View Heritage Site, the line came into the spotlight, the number of passengers increased, and it has since taken on the aspect of a tourist railway.
