Wind and Solar Farms and Their Effects on Territories So-called renewable energies, such as wind and solar power, have been treated as a solution for reducing carbon emissions in the supposed transition to a decarbonized world and in response to climate change. However, what has been observed in the territories where wind and solar farms have been established is an occupation model that reproduces the violent and colonial forms characteristic of large infrastructure projects in Brazil, generating illnesses, expropriations, and various ecological effects. Furthermore, it is noticeable that the country's energy planning ends up including renewable energies not as a replacement for the current use of fossil fuels, but as energy diversification aimed at a future scenario of increased per capita energy use, without questioning the development model that unfolds in the climate emergency. Thus, with the question that provokes this cycle of activities, "Energy to move what world?", this webinar discusses the socio-environmental effects of the model for establishing wind and solar energy infrastructure in Brazil, questioning the current energy transition model.
