How I'm Planning World History for Homeschool High School
One of the biggest surprises after almost ten years of homeschooling is that choosing curriculum isn't actually the hardest part anymore. Making it fit your real life is. As we prepare for our 2026–2027 homeschool year with a ninth grader and a fifth grader, I'm walking through exactly how I'm planning to use Nomadic Professor World History, why I'm combining both kids for history, and how I decide what stays, what changes, and what gets simplified. One thing I've learned over the years is that I almost never use curriculum exactly as written. My goal isn't perfection—it's building a homeschool that is both meaningful and sustainable. In this video I'm sharing: • how I'm planning an honors-level world history course • why I modify almost every curriculum • combining multiple ages for history • planning high school credits without overwhelm • why consistency matters more than checking every box If you're looking for secular homeschool ideas, homeschool high school planning, or simply wondering how another family actually implements curriculum, I hope seeing my process helps you make the best decision for your own family. I'd love to hear from you: Do you usually follow curriculum exactly as written, or do you change it to fit your family? Because I honestly think that's one of the biggest differences between buying curriculum and actually using it. -💖Shanna Just a mama making magic!
