Medina Skatepark: Session & Review | Worth the Drive? (Western New York Skateparks)
Luke Nelson Skatepark - aka - Medina Skatepark! Another hidden gem tucked away in the middle of nowhere. Medina isn't a big town by any means, but it somehow plays host to an absolutely incredible concrete skatepark with a ton to offer. What I love most about Medina is its scale. It might be one of the best parks for beginner and intermediate skaters while still offering plenty to keep more advanced skaters entertained. Nothing here is so massive that it's intimidating, yet every obstacle has enough challenge to help you progress. The bank-to-curb/hip section is the perfect example. It's not too steep, not too mellow, and just the right size to build confidence. In a lot of ways, the park gives me Woodward Progression Center vibes. It's all about approachable, skateable obstacles. Medina packs a surprising amount into a relatively compact layout. You've got stairs, a bump-to-ledge, multiple quarter pipes (including one with a rainbow-style channel), a mellow manual pad that doubles as an easy grind curb, hubbas, a round rail, and one of my favorite features in Western New York, the bank-to-curb section. There's also a concrete bowl and a fun mini ramp/bowl hybrid that offers something completely different from the street course. This is easily one of the best skateparks in Western New York. It's about an hour from Buffalo, so it's a bit of a drive, but it's absolutely worth it. Whether you're coming from Buffalo, Rochester, or planning a skate trip through the area, Medina deserves a spot on your list. If you're looking for a park that's approachable, progression-friendly, and just plain fun... Medina absolutely delivers. This Skateboarding Journey Welcome to This Skateboarding Journey (TSJ).
