Gooseberry Mesa, Windmill Trail - Dec 24, 2025

On this adventure, we explore Gooseberry Mesa near Hurricane Utah and find some petrified wood coated with drusy quartz crystals! It's an easy 1/5th mile walk to the collection area and is safe for cars. Id' recommend some plastic hand trowels so you don't scratch the rock if you want to dig. A spray bottle or some water in a bucket with a brush would help uncover the minerals and colors of the wood. Always backfill your holes.
