In this episode of the paint show, I want to share with you the Sennelier tube I got back in Paris, of the paint Raw Sienna. This is the first time I use Raw Sienna, and also the first time I use Sennelier artist grade paints, and so I'm very excited about it! This paint is made of the pigment PBr7 (Brown Iron Oxide), which is a very common pigment in the earth colors such as Ochre and Umber. I actually found it to be really similar to Yellow Ochre in many senses. This one is transparent, series 1, has great lightfastness and is apparently non granulating (though I can't say for sure). In the video I demo what the color looks like, by doing a flat wash, then wet-in-wet, then dry brush, and then some mixes with French Ultramarine, Phthalo Blue, Quinacridone Rose and Pyrrol scarlet. And finally, I show you how I mix some grays with it. I really enjoyed using this one, and may add it to my regularly used colors. I will mention however, that it was a bit annoying to re-wet it.
