[97th Debut] SMRT ALS R151 Set 995/996 [Batch 2] From Commonwealth to Chinese Garden Via Joo Koon

Date Filmed: 30 June 2026 As 3 Years Of R151 Has Pass, I Have Decided To Take One Of The Brand New R151 Trains Which Was Now Being Served Very Common On The North South, East West and Changi Airport Branch Line. The R151 Trains Were One Of The Most Common Fleet In The Rolling Stock, Which Is Recorded As One Of The Largest MRT Number Of Train Fleet Model In Singapore. The Reason For LTA Wants To Scrap The C151, C651 and The C751B Trains Which Have Been Operating On The North South, East West & Changi Airport Branch Line For Years and Years Already. Previously 3 Years Ago Back In 2023, The Very First R151 Trainset Which Was Set 825/826 Was In Passenger Service Which R151 Set 823/824 Has First Does It's Daytime Testing But Then At That Time, There Was Some Issues For The 823/824 Set Which Cause That Set To Rest At The Depot. During That Time Of The Debut, I Did Not Take It Because That Time I Was Outside Singapore For Holiday Trip For 2 Weeks. So Recently On The Day On 30 June 2026, I Just Got The News That Was Interesting That One Of The Newest Trainset To Debut Was Actually Belonging To R151 Trainset 995/996. The R151 Set 995/996 Was Testing Back In April 2026 After The Last Train To Pasir Ris Has Departed For The Day. In Fact, The R151 Set 995/996 Was Entered Service Since 24 June 2026 Which Was One Of The Fews Were Running Along The June School Holiday Period. Because I Was Happy That I Got The Chance To Finally Riding The New Trainset, I Originally That I Have Found The Good Idea That I Decided To Ride The Newest Trainset To Ride Along The Tuas West Extension But Sadly, The R151 Set 995/996 Didn't Go Inside The Tuas West Extension Which I Thought That I Could Ride This One To Tuas Link But Ended Up Detraining Passengers At Joo Koon Before Turning Around Back For Pasir Ris Via The Joo Koon Middle Sidings and Departed The JKN Platform For Pasir Ris At 6:23 PM. Before That, I Firstly Have Asked One Of My Transport Enthusiast Friend To Know The Location Of The R151 Set 995/996. So The R151 Set 995/996 Was Going To Reach Near Queenstown MRT Station So I Thought That I Would Wanted To Go Down Futher To Get Longer Train Ride But I Would Be Worried To Myself That I Might Not Get This If I Get This Trainset Too Late As That Time, The Train Was Deployed To Run As Train Run Number 122 As The Full Day and Late Night Slot. But Yesterday, There Is One Increase Of The R151 Train Since SMRT R151 Set 155/156 Have Debuted For Passenger Service At That Time During The Circle Line Stage 6 Open House Preview Since I Didn't Go For The Preview Because Got Something Very Urgent Thing Happening Which I Didn't Have The Choice But To Avoid It. This One Was The 97th To Debut, Being That Also The Last 99X Series To Be In Passenger Service As The First 99X Series Was In Service Since April 2026 Was 991/992. By 5 July 2026, There Is Already 98 New Fleet Of R151 Trains Being Use For Passenger Service As 8 More R151 Trains Were Needed To Be Tested Before The Entire 106 R151 Trains Were In Full Passenger Service. The 106 R151 Trains Would Fully Be In Operation By The End Of 2026 Since Not All Were In Service But The 8XX and 9XX Were Near Full Completion. This Is Still Considered To Be Batch 2, That There Is No Batch 3 As The R151 1XX Series From 151/152 To 165/166 Were Still In Batch 2 Due To The Part Of The 40 Additional Trains To Replace 19 C651 and 21 C751B Trains Which Have Been Running Since 1995 and 2000 Respectively. The Train Ride Is Amazing As I Like The Strong Aircon, LED Lighting Are Very Bright, Working LCD DRMD Screens & CLD Display, Working Announcements, Clean Interior Of Train and Comfortable Seats [With Perch Ones] and Ride For This New CRRC Changchun Train.
