Katherine Paterson's heartbreaking novel, Bridge to Terabithia made a huge impact on me when I read it as a kid, and probably many other kids through many generations. A powerful story had the ability to do that. I felt it was right for me to pay homage to the first book to ever make me feel like I've truly lost a friend when a character died (sorry, it's not George RR Martin). In this episode of Adaptations, I look into the tragic inspiration of Bridge to Terabithia and how the torch of the story was past on from mother to son. This is the story of Katerine Paterson's novel, but it's also a story about David L Paterson's childhood and his adaptation of the Newbery award-winning children's novel.
