[Report] Inspector Park, who was the investigation team leader at the Gwangsan Police Station in Gwangju at the time and directed the initial investigation into the Jang Yoon-ki case, appeared in court for a pre-detention interrogation. The charges against him include destruction of evidence. Inspector Park headed into the courtroom without giving any specific answers to the reporters' questions. (Do you have anything to say?) …."] Inspector Park is accused of failing to secure the cable tie—a suspected abduction tool found in Jang Yoon-ki's vehicle—as evidence, even after discovering it. However, this missing key piece of evidence was discovered at the home of Jang Yoon-ki's father, an active police officer. Yesterday (the 7th), the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office secured an unopened set of cable ties during a search and seizure operation at the home of Jang Yoon-ki's father in Gwangju. This raises deep suspicions of collusion between the police and the suspect, particularly regarding how evidence that the police investigation team failed to secure at the scene ended up in the hands of the suspect's father. The prosecution also seized the vehicle used by Jang Yoon-ki in the crime and has begun a detailed forensic examination. As soon as the decision is made regarding the arrest of the investigation team leader, the prosecution plans to continue an intensive investigation into the overall allegations of systematic destruction of evidence and leakage of investigative information by the team at the time.
