Renaissance dance: Branle des Lavandières

Dance: Branle des Lavandières (The Washerwomen), Pierre Phalèse 1531 Music: Recorders, drum, viol The dancers imitate washerwomen, as they gossip while doing their washing. The clapping imitates the slapping of the washing against the stones in the wash house. This performance of the Renaissance dance Branle des Lavandières - is from CHRISTMASTIDE: The Courtly Arts Performers of Victoria's Christmas pageant, 2018, in which we presented customs and revelries of Christmastide from Tudor and Stuart England. We performed with period instruments and in Renaissance and Baroque period costumes from the collection of our patron Helga Hill OAM. Location: The Art Gallery of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia You can find out more about the Courtly Arts Performers of Victoria (Australia), or contact us, here: https://www.courtlyarts.com/ Contact us on Messenger: https://www.m.me/courtlyartsperformer...
