I visited a kindergarten in Pakse. It is run by a Korean missionary couple, and I noticed they care for the children for a very small fee. While contemplating what Korean food to prepare for the children, I decided to make 50 servings of Japchae. I prepared the ingredients and cooked the dish myself starting in the morning, then served a plate to each child. Honestly, I was a little worried at first. "Will the children really like Korean food?" However, my worries quickly vanished. The children ate it with such relish, approached me with smiles, and even those who were initially shy were soon playing around and laughing. To be honest, I don't exactly have a pleasant impression, but the children didn't seem to mind that at all. Seeing their clear and innocent smiles, I felt as though I had received an even greater gift.
