Bedding the Feedlot with Sawdust
This past week we got a bit of surprise. TEN plus inches if snow, wet, heavy snow. After cleaning up the yard we took to cleaning up the pens. In the past we use the tire manure pusher to clean of the concrete behind the bunks. On top of that we normally bed the pens with cornstalks but when things are this wet and this muddy cornstalks don't last long in the mud. So we use our stock pile of sawdust to bed the concrete. The sawdust outlasts the cornstalks and the cattle can now get a little rest for the next couple days.
