It's Still Not Good EnoughStartup - VLog 2026WW27.4 (PA22)

Today's goal was simple: solve yesterday's welding problems and keep moving the first wall rack (Wally) prototype forward. I tested a shorter TIG cup, adjusted the argon pre-flow, reduced tungsten stick-out, and kept chasing better weld quality inside the deep recesses. Some ideas helped. Some didn't. I'm learning that's prototyping. The bigger win today wasn't the welding—it was discovering why the rack was twisting out of square. The brackets weren't the problem. Small gaps in the fit-up and clearances around the welds were quietly stacking up until the whole assembly started fighting itself. One change at a time = One lesson at a time! Tomorrow I'll test a braided grounding strap and see if MIG welding those recessed joints is actually the better solution. Sometimes the "better" process isn't the better process.
