Welcome to Minimal Bus Channel Episode 39! This episode covers my daily routine on day 55 of van life in Los Angeles, 2022. As someone striving for minimalism, I'm reminded once again of the enormous possessions I actually own. First, to clean my VW bus, I head to a car wash. After some research, I discovered that it's algae that eats car paint, spreading like mold in black spots. I didn't want the dirt sticking to the solar panels, so I finally mustered the courage to climb onto the roof and scrub it. After battling the algae for two hours, my arms are aching from scrubbing the large roof with a brush! (laughs) The roof is now so smooth you could rub your cheek against it! I'm reminded once again of the enormous possessions I own. Before even thinking about reducing my possessions as a minimalist, I already own "such a huge thing." For me, my VW bus is "my beloved home." This algae reminded me of that. Thank you, algae. Next, I got my hands on some excellent coffee beans, so I'll grind them and brew the perfect cup. Finally, I'll tackle cooking pasta at my usual park. After eating hot sandwiches every day for three weeks, I finally need a change of pace. The pasta takes 11 minutes to boil, and how do I deal with the leftover water in the limited space of my car? It's quite a challenging operation (lol). My Coleman double burner is incredibly useful because I can boil water while sautéing the ingredients. I'm aiming to recreate the ideal pasta that the owner of "Frenchies," an Italian restaurant I frequented in Houston, Texas, when I was in my twenties, made for me. Will I be able to recreate that nostalgic taste, where the owner adds a generous amount of the pasta water to the finished pasta?
