Diode vs Fiber Laser: Which One Is Right for You? #laserengraving #xtool

In this video, we break down diode vs fiber lasers, using the xTool F1 (diode) and xTool F2 Ultra (fiber), so you know which one is right for you. They look similar and can engrave a lot of the same materials, but here's the real difference: the fiber goes deeper, can even do some cutting, and is way faster. The diode is more for simple engraving and marking. And don't let the wattage fool you, the F1 is 20W and the F2 Ultra is 40W, but on some jobs the fiber is more than twice as fast, not just double. So which should you get? It really comes down to price and what you're making: xTool F1 (diode), around $1,500 with the rotary and air purifier. Cheaper, lighter, portable, just slower. Perfect for getting started, a backup machine, or events. It handles drinkware (stainless, powder coated), journals, notebooks, and coasters no problem. xTool F2 Ultra (fiber), around $8k fully loaded. Newer, way more powerful. Go for this if you do a lot of engraving, larger runs with a conveyor belt, or color engraving. Doing a ton of metal marking instead? That's when you'd look at a galvo. In our shop we run a CO2, a diode, and a fiber because we want full versatility. Got questions on choosing between a diode and a fiber laser engraver?
