Enquête | L'affaire Collard : une mort (in) expliquée

Report from September 29, 2022 The Collard Case: An Unexplained Death Martin Collard's life came to an abrupt end in 2015 during a police intervention in front of the main entrance of the Sept-Îles hospital, where he had gone seeking help. The 36-year-old man reportedly succumbed to cocaine poisoning, according to the coroner's findings, which also ruled out the possibility that the forceful intervention contributed to his death. Nearly seven years later, the family is contesting these findings and seeking to reconstruct what happened. At the heart of the dispute: the police officers' use of a controversial technique to restrain Martin and the hospital emergency room staff's refusal to come out to assist him. This tragedy highlights the urgent need for better training for police officers in crisis intervention. Journalist: Sylvie Fournier Director: Sonia Desmarais Editor: Milène Ortenberg
