Enquête | Ces avocats qui dépassent la ligne

Report from October 22, 2020 For a rare time in the country's history, the police obtained authorization to place microphones and cameras in a law office. As a result, the RCMP captured conversations in which lawyers participated in compromising meetings with organized crime leaders. By examining how the evidence gathered largely ended up in court due to professional secrecy, Enquête will reveal the serious difficulties police officers face in proving that some lawyers are crossing the line between legality and morality. Observers of the legal scene will cast doubt on the Bar Association's willingness to clean up its ranks; and on the Canadian government's failure to take action to subject lawyers to stricter rules to combat money laundering.
