1990's Hitachi 16” Wall Fan | Pre Restoration!

Filmed in 18th of February 2025, description written in 13th of June 2026 Here's a fan that was purchased at a time when I've mostly stopped caring about pre-owned fans that aren't in reasonable shape. There's one main reason why I decided to get this fan even though from the pictures of the online ad I got this fan from, I could determine that it's gonna take a lot of effort to restore, and that is due to the fact that Hitachi portable fans are very uncommon around where I live. So far, I don't think I've seen this exact wall fan with my own 2 eyes, and even though fellow Indonesian fan collectors have come across them multiple times, they are very few and far between. I'm not exactly sure whether the reason was this fan wasn't locally produced & had to be imported in which means it couldn't compete in price with locally made Matsushita fans, or there were other factors at play. If memory serves me correctly, this fan's performance isn't as strong as comparable Matsushita fans from the same era, which is to be expected as the blade pitch is slightly shallower. I also don't think this fan has a mechanism that allows for 3, or 5 way oscillation. However, its seemingly lack of features and performance is more than made up for by its design quirks. Starting from the lovely pixel graphics on the front badge which makes it stand out from other fans, to the speed indicator window, to the handle on the bottom of the grille (yes it's meant to be there) to allow users to reach up to the fan grille and tilt the fan head, all of them give this fan a very strong Japanese vibe which I feel don't really exist on 90's National / KDK wall fans. It's certainly going to be a very nice runner after I have it fully serviced and restored! #Hitachi #WallFan
