The name Taipingsha originates from the inscription "Taiping Yanhu" by Chen Gongyin, one of the "Seven Scholars of Lingnan" in the early Qing Dynasty. During the Song Dynasty, the north bank of the Pearl River, roughly along present-day Taikang Road, contained five small sandbars, known as the Five Islands. Due to continuous siltation and tidal sand accumulation in the Pearl River, the Five Islands merged into one large sandbar during the Ming Dynasty, which was then reclaimed. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, it was incorporated into the north bank of the Pearl River, and a small alley within the area is named after it. —— Beijing Road, Guangzhou: Beijing Road is a street in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China, integrating culture, entertainment, and commerce. It was the most prosperous commercial center in Guangzhou's history, with a daily foot traffic of approximately 350,000 people. Beijing Road stretches over 1,500 meters from Guangwei Road in the north to Yanjiang Middle Road in the south. During the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty, the area along the Pearl River where Beijing Road and Yanjiang Road intersect was the site of Tianzi Wharf, which was specifically set up to welcome and send off officials. The nearby Jieguan Pavilion was the place where officials were received at that time. —— Guangzhou Street Food Stalls: After the economic deregulation following the 1980s, many privately owned food stalls revived, with street food stalls being the most common type. Street food stalls emerged as a new catering model in Guangzhou in the 1980s. It is said that the earliest street food stalls in Guangzhou were located around Guangwei Road, later expanding to the vicinity of Tianzi Wharf along the Pearl River.
