She survived the holocaust and made a life in NYC’s “Projects” | Tova Schiff's story
Tova Schiff has lived in the projects since almost from its very beginning in the early 1960s. She came to the United States after a very storied childhood, having been a young girl during the Holocaust and living in communist Romania, then Israel. Finally, she made her home in Williamsburg's projects. I ran into Tova during one of my shoots in the neighborhood (See my burning the bread video) and I was excited to visit her to hear her story. I am so grateful to Tova for welcoming me into her home, being so wonderful to talk to, and sharing her extraordinary story with all of you.
