Maximise lamb production on fodder beet
Because of dry conditions, autumn is a difficult time of year to finish - or even run - lambs. Scott Linklater, of Link Farms Ltd, has been running a trial to see if they can maximise both profit and productivity by running lambs on fodder beet (with hay, to ensure the lambs have a balanced diet). The trial is a Beef + Lamb New Zealand Innovation Farm project (formerly known as 'Demonstration Farm' projects). A panel discussion to look at Scott's findings is being held in Feilding at 3pm on Thursday 15 September. Questions for the panel should be emailed through beforehand.
