Sound Transit Won't Break Even Until 2071?

Sound Transit's own 2016 analysis said the "expected benefits" of ST3 won't exceed its costs until 2071. And that was before the budget ballooned. Charles Prestrud — director of the Coles Center for Transportation at the Washington Policy Center — joins John Curley to explain why Sound Transit has become a case study in sunk-cost politics. The population growth Sound Transit is planning for isn't happening where they think it is. Light rail is projected to carry just 2% of daily trips in the Puget Sound region by 2050.
