In the next part of the episode, Basia and I tackle bulbs that have finished blooming – including daffodils and snowdrops. 🌼 This is a very important time in their cycle, as they are now building strength for next year. We show how to fertilize them properly: 🌱 Feed them after flowering, while the leaves are still green. 🌱 Use natural fertilizers (granular manure and basalt flour) or a gentle organic fertilization (compost). 🌱 Don't remove the leaves too early – they nourish the bulb. These simple steps have a huge impact on how the plants will bloom next season. I hope this episode will inspire and encourage you to look at your garden a little more "in time" – not just through the prism of flowering, but through the entire life cycle of plants 🌿 🔸🔸🔸 🌷 Spring Author Meetings 2026 🌷 I will be delighted to meet you this spring! I invite you to talk about gardens, books, and share gardening inspirations 🌱📚 🌿 May 13, 2026 (Wednesday), 5:30 PM Włochy District Public Library 1 Astronautów Street 🌿 May 14, 2026, 6:00 PM 5:30 PM – with the wonderful Agnieszka Majewska, the photographer for all my books 📸💛 Library Point No. 45 Mokotów Public Library (Skwer Ormiański, Warsaw) LIMITED SPACE 🔸🔸🔸 🌷 Bulbs and their approach to fertilizing after flowering 1. Snowdrops Galanthus nivalis don't like heavy fertilization a minimal amount of compost is enough they "manage themselves" best --- 2. Snowflakes Leucojum aestivum prefer natural conditions excess fertilizer harms them more than it helps --- 3. Scillas Scilla siberica very hardy, but "modest" don't require feeding after flowering flowering --- 4. Grape Hyacinths Muscari armeniacum 👉 This is interesting because they're in the middle. They tolerate poor soil. But better soil = better flowering. How to treat them? ✔️ They like: a thin layer of compost very light organic fertilization ❗ They don't like: large amounts of nitrogen "heavy feeding" after flowering 👉 In practice: *minimalism works best* --- 5. Daffodils Narcissus respond well to compost and light fertilization it's worth feeding them after flowering --- 6. Tulips Tulipa need support after flowering but are very easy to over-fertilize --- The simplest rule (to remember): 👉 The smaller and "wild" the bulb → the less fertilizer 👉 The more garden-style and carefully selected → the more (but still carefully) 🔸🔸🔸
