When The Goo Goo Dolls released their song Iris in 1998, I wasn't even born yet, but I'd like to think that I heard that song from the beyond and decided it was time to head on down to earth (if only to hear it with my own ears). Well, one thing led to another and here I am, singing this song! Funny how life works: One minute you're not even born, the next minute you're a fan of dad rock. "Iris" by The Goo Goo Dolls fits like a perfect puzzle piece into its time. In the height of bands like "The Script" and "The Fray," this song found its place in the heart of early 2000's kids. Most impressively though, it stuck around for a Gen Z artist like myself to know it and cover it 20 years later. I can only hope to live up to what the song has become over the last two decades.
