Why you're not finishing your comic (Productive procrastination)

In this episode of Panels in Progress, I talk about something I’ve been noticing in my own process ,how easy it is to feel productive without actually making progress on your comic. I break down what I’ve been calling “side quests” and all the things we do around making comics that feel like work, but don’t actually move the story forward. Studying, redesigning characters, watching tutorials, reorganizing files… all of it can feel productive, but the comic itself doesn’t get done. I also speak on the difference between work that supports your comic, and work that replaces it. In this episode, I talk about: • What “productive procrastination” looks like in comic creation • Why side quests feel like progress • The difference between supporting work and avoiding the main work • My own experience getting stuck in this cycle • Why making the actual page matters more than anything else This is a more personal, reflective episode about staying focused on what actually moves your comic forward.
