Review: The Art of Felix Slatkin--More Fun from the Fabulous Fifties
Felix Slatkin was a splendid musician: violinist, conductor, arranger, and father of Leonard Slatkin. His early death at age 47 in the early '60s cut short what was already a pretty amazing career. This 13-CD set on Scribendum offers a splendid retrospective, and it has a bit of everything: light classics, interesting contemporary repertoire, film and TV tunes, and some wonderfully demented popular and classical arrangements. You're going to love it.
