MILLY FACTORY OPENS: 3,000 FARMERS BENEFIT AS GOVERNOR OFFICIATE ITS OPENING AT SABAKI IN MAGARINI

The agricultural sector in Kilifi County has received a major boost following the official launch of the Milly Fruit Processing Plant in Sabaki, Malindi. The state-of-the-art processing facility is expected to transform the livelihoods of more than 3,000 fruit farmers growing mangoes, pineapples, and coconuts by providing a reliable market for their produce while producing dried fruits for export. The launch ceremony was officiated by Kilifi Governor Gideon Maitha Mung'aro, alongside the Deputy British High Commissioner Diana Dalton, Principal Secretary for Investment Promotion Abubakr Hassan Abubakar, county leaders, and other development partners. Sabaki MCA Rose Baraka welcomed the investment and urged the company to prioritize employment opportunities for local youth and women, noting that the factory has the potential to reduce unemployment while improving household incomes. Kilifi County Executive Committee Member for Trade Raymond Ngala described the project as a milestone in the county's industrial transformation, saying Kilifi is steadily becoming one of Kenya's leading investment destinations. According to county officials, investments such as Milly Fruit Processing Plant will create value addition, increase farmers' earnings, stimulate local businesses, and boost county revenue.
