Security measures for the Eid al-Adha holiday have been heightened in Mersin. Between May 22nd and June 1st, teams will be on duty 24/7 at numerous locations, from security and traffic control to healthcare services and designated areas for the sale and slaughter of sacrificial animals. Mersin Governor Atilla Toros, in a statement at the Mersin Highway Gendarmerie Command, announced that 3,507 security personnel, 700 vehicles, and 11 drones will be deployed daily throughout the holiday. In healthcare services, 1,650 personnel and 140 vehicles will be on standby. Hygiene, food safety, and veterinary inspections will be increased at sacrificial animal sales and slaughter areas; traffic controls, surprise checkpoints, and road inspections will also continue uninterrupted throughout the holiday. Governor Toros urged citizens to obey traffic rules, stating, "A moment of negligence can turn into a lifetime of suffering."
