Today's Friday video features a classic of sea fishing, a reel that's considered a "bread and butter" reel for anglers, especially in the USA: A Penn Long Beach 60, a small to medium-sized classic multiplier reel with a star drag and a line capacity of approximately 250 meters of 0.50 mm monofilament, gear ratio 2.5:1. It's very popular for bottom fishing and natural bait fishing from a boat or pier. Remarkably, the concept and design of this reel date back to the 1930s. The Long Beach series was produced and sold virtually unchanged for almost seven decades until the early 2000s. A typical Penn multiplier reel, very similar in design to other models from this manufacturer. The Long Beach series was available in five sizes; the 60 here is the smallest. The largest version, the Long Beach 68, is virtually identical to a Penn Senator 113 in size 4/0, except that the Long Beach lacks the outer chrome rings on the side covers.
