Today we're talking about a beautiful, high-quality spinning reel, a Shimano Stradic 4000 S GTM-RC. This is the classic white version with a double handle, rear drag, and an additional "fighting drag" setting to loosen or tighten the drag during a fight. It's a medium-sized spinning reel with five ball bearings and a gear ratio of 5.8:1, which is quite high. The reel in this video has a line capacity of 100 meters of 0.30 mm monofilament. There are also other spools available for this reel, which only have a line capacity of 100 meters of 0.18 mm monofilament. So, this reel is primarily designed for coarse fishing, especially feeder fishing. Shimano also advertises that these reels are the favorites of most feeder anglers. This particular reel was running well, but it had never been opened or serviced, and in some places, it was quite dirty. Shimano reels can be quite temperamental. Disassembly isn't exactly easy, and you have to apply plenty of oil and very soft reel grease to the gears, otherwise they won't run properly.
