ThudBuster: From an Engineer's Perspective / Links in Description

I have owned two Thudbusters over the last 11 years or so. I got it originally for my BH Road Bike because on one important route I kept banging into the same monster pothole. There was nothing for it, traffic. Cane Creek was the first to employ a successful parallelogram design, this design keeps us an equal distance from the pedals as the Saddle responds up and down. It saved me much pain over the years and I highly recommend a Suspension Seatpost for everyone. Velo-Pro does not discuss "telescopic" Seatposts because they can damage your knees. The Thudbuster's weight and the overall Design is very attractive. The three factual Engineering issues with the Thudbuster are the oversized holes in the linkages the poor Seat Rail Clamp and no ability to Fine-tune the load. 1: I measured 9.22mm Dia for the Posts and 9.45mm Dia Linkage holes, 0.23mm oversize x2 holes. At least one of those should have been a slip fit, it isn't practical to need to grease it so often to help noise. Had just one hole in the linkage been a slip-fit it wouldn't rattle and interchangeability wouldn't have been compromised. It simply would have cost a bit more to machine, machining costs go by accuracy and Finish. 2: The Seat Rail Clamp requires far too much torque, any more and it would strip-out the threads. I sanded-off the anodize and roughed the rail-slots but it didn't help much. Seat Rails can break. Saddles are expensive. 3: The puck design could be modified so two different durometers could be pieced together. Halfing the pucks would allow different durometers to mate, same idea as how Redshift employs variable's in their Stem, 2 Inserts. This would allow us to customize the load ~50% closer. If I were to Grade the Thudbuster assembly as an Mechanical Engineering Professor, which I am, maybe a "C" for the above reasons. Listed are 3 Manufacturers of affordable Suspension Seatposts.
