Trump Hails Iran Peace Deal Framework — Strait of Hormuz to Reopen, Iran Commits to No Nukes

After more than two months of diplomatic talks, President Trump is hailing the framework of a potential permanent peace deal with Iran. The Memorandum of Understanding will be officially signed by both countries in Switzerland on Friday. A senior Administration official says the MOU calls for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and an end to the U.S. naval blockade. Speaking at the G7 Summit in Evian, France — alongside French President Emmanuel Macron — President Trump touted a commitment from Iran to abandon its nuclear weapons program. The Trump Administration says it is prepared to lift sanctions and release approximately $24 billion in frozen Iranian funds if Iran meets certain milestones outlined in the agreement.
