I have heard a couple of Red Velvet tracks before, but I have not had the chance to sit with a full project from them yet, so getting this kind of medley was such a great way to hear the range, the vocals, the eras, and the different sides of who they are as a group. This performance really showed how much variety Red Velvet has in their catalog. They can go bright, fun, quirky, smooth, mature, emotional, elegant, and powerful without it feeling random. The way they moved from songs like “Happiness,” “Dumb Dumb,” “Ice Cream Cake,” “Russian Roulette,” and “Red Flavor” into tracks like “Bad Boy,” “Psycho,” “Automatic,” “Kingdom Come,” and “One Of These Nights” made the whole thing feel like a journey through their identity. Red Velvet has a sound that feels very polished, but the live setting made me appreciate the actual voices even more. The harmonies, tone, control, and little moments between members gave these songs a new kind of life. Even songs I had heard before felt different when placed next to the rest of the catalog like this. Overall, Red Velvet’s Killing Voice was such a strong first step into their world. It gave me vocals, classics, B-sides, personality, and a better understanding of what makes them special.
