MK7 Golf GTI Build - Turning a Road Car into a full blown Race Car! | Pt.3 🇦🇪

Episode 3 — Sunroof Delete, Roll Cage Drama & Air Jack Mayhem Turning a road car into a race car isn’t just about horsepower and widebody kits — it’s about ticking every box that the rulebook throws at you. In this episode, we take major steps forward — and hit a few speed bumps along the way. First stop: Energy Driven Systems, where we begin the sunroof delete process. They measure, mould, and prep the custom fibreglass panel that’ll replace the factory sunroof — shaving weight and adding rigidity to the chassis. Then it’s over to Saluki Motorsport, where the real race prep begins: 🔧 Full FIA-spec roll cage install from Custom Cages UK 🔩 Air jack system installation — with one major missing part… As the cage is being welded in, we’re visited unexpectedly by Igor — an EMSO representative. EMSO (Emirates Motorsports Organisation) is the UAE’s official FIA-sanctioned governing body, responsible for ensuring safety and regulation compliance across all forms of motorsport in the region. His inspection raises serious concerns — he claims our cage doesn’t meet EMSO approval to race in the Gulf ProCar Series. At that moment, the build — and our race plans — are thrown into doubt. Later, we find out the cage does meet FIA standards for ProCar eligibility. It’s just built to a different spec than expected. If that wasn’t enough, the air jacks arrive without mounting tubes. Cue a mini-adventure around Dubai trying to source the exact right steel, modify it in-house, and keep the project on track — while the testing window closes around us. At the time of posting, both official Gulf ProCar testing sessions have already passed, meaning Nick will be going into Round 1 on October 31st with little to no seat time in the car.
