How to Determine the Best Masking and Cleanup Methods for Subject Masking in Lightroom. Over the past several weeks I have been asked to demonstrate the best method to mask subjects in Lightroom. Due to the fact we have several masking methods available to us in Lightroom the question was, “do we use select subject, select object or maybe the person masking tool to make an effect subject mask?” In this week’s video I go through the use and evaluation of select subject, select object and select person masking tool. With the use of each tool I go through the evaluation of these masks and how we might clean them up once we have masked the subject. Each masking type has its strong points and weak points and no method is the defacto “always go to” type of masking. But knowing what each mask type can do and how we can easily cleanup up these masks goes a long way in helping us make great local changes to our photographs.
